New Mexico woman accused of firing gun during armed robbery files plea

MCKINLEY COUNTY, NM (KRQE) – A woman has entered a plea in a robbery case. The crime occurred in 2021.

Amber Yazzie, 29, is accused of entering an insurance company in Gallup with two other people while brandishing a gun. She allegedly yelled at employees for money, threatened them and fired the gun into the ceiling. Yazzie and the other people fled to Albuquerque.


According to court documents, they went shopping at a mall with the money, as documented by receipts and surveillance footage.

Yazzie pleaded guilty to robbery and federal firearms charges. She faces 10 years to life in prison. She will be required to serve three years of supervised release following her sentence.
