Schedule Revealed – Stanford Cardinal

STANFORD, California. – Stanford unveiled its 2024 cross country schedule on Friday, with the most notable change being the Atlantic Coast Conference Championships in Cary, North Carolina, on Nov. 1.

Stanford was the all-time leader in men’s and women’s cross-country titles in the Pac-12 Conference, which split after more than 100 years. This fall marks Stanford’s first season in the ACC.

The Cardinal have stiff competition on both teams. Cross country All-American Cole Sprout returns for his fifth season on the men’s team, while 2023 Pac-12 champion Amy Bunnage, now a sophomore, headlines the women’s team.

Lex Young’s 74th-place finish at last year’s NCAA Championships in Virginia was the best by a true American freshman. Among the returning players, twins Lex and Leo, as well as Robert DiDonato and Thomas Boyden, form a solid and experienced core. A strong recruiting class will also bolster the Cardinals’ men.

Bunnage and Sophia Kennedy, 11th in the 5,000 meters at the NCAA Outdoor, are a strong 1-2 combination from the women’s sophomore team.

Stanford opens, as it does every year, on August 30 at the USF Invitational in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park.

Stanford’s two major regular-season races are the Gans Creek Classic in Columbia, Missouri, on September 27 and the Pre-Nationals in Verona, Wisconsin, on October 19.

The NCAA Championships are also held at the Thomas Zimmer Championship Course in Verona.
