Enbridge Gas faces technical failure

July 19 – LIMA – Enbridge Gas Ohio, formerly Dominion East Ohio, is currently experiencing technical difficulties due to a large-scale technology outage affecting multiple systems worldwide, according to a news release from the company.

Should a natural gas emergency occur, Enbridge advises gas utility customers to call 911 if their call to the company’s customer service line goes unanswered. Gas leaks cannot currently be reported online through the company’s website due to the technology outage.

Enbridge reminds customers that if they smell gas, they should leave the area immediately, warn others to stay away, and then call 911 from a safe location. Anyone who suspects a gas leak is advised not to turn natural gas valves on or off, not to smoke, not to use a lighter or match, and not to operate electrical switches, telephones or cell phones, garage door openers, or flashlights, as any of these items can create sparks and ignite airborne gas. Do not start or stop vehicles or other machinery in the area, as they can also create sparks that could ignite gas.
