Lehi fire: Vegetation fire prompts evacuations in Newcastle

Mandatory evacuations were in effect Friday afternoon due to a fire near the Placer County town of Newcastle, authorities said.

The vegetation fire had burned about 5 acres near Lehi Lane, just north of Highway 193, Cal Fire’s Nevada-Yuba-Placer unit reported in a social media post shortly before 5 p.m.

The Placer County Sheriff’s Office has issued an evacuation order for Lehi Lane, Winter Snow Court and Autumn Wind Court.
