Motorcyclist seriously injured in crash near Devils Lake – InForum

DEVILS LAKE – A motorcyclist was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries Friday, July 19, following a two-vehicle crash that occurred three miles south of Devils Lake.

The Honda motorcycle, driven by a 54-year-old man from Webster, North Dakota, was traveling southbound on ND Highway 20 just after noon when it collided with a Chrysler Town & Country van that was turning northbound from Military Road, according to a state police news release.

The press release states that a 47-year-old man from Pembina was driving the van with a woman and four minor passengers inside.

The motorcyclist was taken by ambulance to CHI Saint Alexius Hospital in Devils Lake with serious injuries. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

The van’s front airbags deployed in the crash, and the driver and his 40-year-old female passenger both suffered minor injuries but were treated at the scene. None of the minor passengers in the van were injured in the crash.

State police said the investigation into the crash is ongoing, including possible charges against both drivers.

Our newsroom occasionally reports on stories under the name “staff.” Often, the name “staff” is used when rewriting basic newsletters that come from official sources, such as a city press release about a road closure, and require little or no reporting. Sometimes this name is used when a news story has multiple authors or when the story is formed by aggregating previously reported news from several sources. If outside sources are used, this is noted in the story.
