New Restaurant Francisco’s Taqueria Builds Loyal Customer Base

play

Francisco’s Mexican Taqueria opened on Broad Street on July 5 and the restaurant has been busy ever since, said Camilla Suarez, whose fiancé, Francisco Flores, owns the restaurant.

“This has been a dream of Francisco’s for years and a good friend of his owns the building,” Suarez said. “He said, ‘This could be a great opportunity for you.'”

The space used to be a Chinese takeout restaurant. Now it sells fajitas like hot cakes.

“Fajitas, fajitas, fajitas,” Suarez said. “We have Tejana (four meats), chicken, steak, chorizo, Pastor style, and more. Whatever (customers) want.”

Pastor is a Lebanese/Mexican fusion dish popular in Central Mexico.

Tacos al pastor originates from Central Mexico and comes from Lebanese immigrants. It is basically a Mexican version of Shawarma.

The new restaurant is a dine-in/takeout spot, with room for 32 guests. Suarez, a retired nurse, said they are working on setting up delivery service.

“Not yet,” Suarez said, nodding and smiling.

Even without delivery, Francisco’s hasn’t had a moment’s rest since opening, she said.

“Busy, busy, busy,” Suarez said. “It’s a diverse crowd with a lot of regulars.”
