Barry Haynie | Kingfisher Times & Free Press

Barry Dean Haynie was born on September 19, 1957 in Altus to Ronald and Sue (Parks) Haynie. He passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on July 16, 2024 after a courageous battle with cancer. Barry grew up in a farming family, played sports, loved his motorcycles, and found his eternal love in Susan Kay Killebrew in the second grade.

They graduated from Tipton High School and attended Oklahoma State University together. They were married on August 2, 1980, and began their 43-year honeymoon.

Barry always said that he had to finish his last class quickly and graduate because he and Susan had found out that their first child, Brandon Earl, was on the way.

Three years later, they welcomed Brooke Nicole.

God would eventually lead the family to Kingfisher, where Barry began his 33-year career with Cimarron Electric. He took pride in his work and loved serving the members of the cooperative. Barry took great pride in his dedication to Susan and his children and grandchildren. He spent endless hours and energy creating memories during family trips, fishing, golfing, soccer games, and countless gatherings. He had a wonderful time with his children and grandchildren and was a true family man. Barry loved God and was deeply passionate about his daily walk with the Lord. He demonstrated his love for God by tirelessly serving others. He was a great encourager to all.

He served as an elder at Kingfisher Church of Christ and spent many years on the board of Lariat Creek Christian Camp, a place he loved. Barry is survived by his wife Susan Kay Haynie, his son Brandon Haynie and wife Rebekah, his daughter Brooke Lemmons and husband Jonathan, his grandchildren Callan, Tatum and Maisie Lemmons and Sutton and Deacon Haynie, his mother Martha Sue Haynie, his sister Beverly Schettler and husband Leon, and his sister Shari Freeland and husband Joey.

He also leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews, whom he regarded as his own children.

His father, Ronald Haynie, died earlier.

A memorial service to celebrate Barry’s life will be held on Saturday, July 20 at 11:00 a.m. at the Kingfisher Church of Christ. The service is under the direction of Wilson Funeral Home-Kingfisher.

Memorial donations may be made in Barry’s name to the Kingfisher Church of Christ (913 W Will Rogers Drive, Kingfisher, OK 73750) or Lariat Creek Christian Camp (94495 N 2560 Road, Geary, OK 73040).
