Drum Corps International delights over 1,000 in Hutchinson

More than 1,000 people gathered at Gowans Stadium on Tuesday for Drum Corps International’s (DCI) annual summer tour.

The event was opened by Dale Antoine of the Sky Ryders Performing Arts Foundation, who thanked the city of Hutchinson for its support in reviving the historic Sky Ryders, which opened the show.

The SRPAF enhances music education programs in Reno County by offering local clinics for percussion, brass, and honor guard, with the goal of bringing back the Sky Ryders.

The Gowans show featured five award-winning DCI teams, including the Colt Cadets of Dubuque, Iowa; the Battalion of Salt Lake City, Utah; Madison Scouts of Madison, Wisconsin; Troopers of Casper, Wyoming; and Blue Stars of La Crosse, Wisconsin.

The event was hosted by Hutchinson Community College and sponsored by SRPAF. To donate to SRPAF and provide competitive marching opportunities to others, visit https://www.skyryderspaf.org/.
