Daily Bullets (July 20): What It Means to Pay a Wrestling Coach, Picking the Pokes

Thanks for stopping by. Here’s your daily dose of Oklahoma State sports news.

Three thoughts

• PFB has secured the contract of new wrestling coach David Taylor – exciting to see OSU getting serious and paying more than anyone else in the country for a wrestling coach (PFB-)

• Now that redistricting is underway again, it’s fun to look at the options each school has – and while the Cowboys are already part of the Big 12, Is adding Clemson and Florida State a win for OSU? (247 Sports)

• The hesitation to embrace the Cowboys as a contender this fall is reasonable given the numbers ESPN is sharing – but they still won and came back, so many will tell you a different story.

Despite the abysmal start, OSU finished the year ranked 28th in offensive SP+. But the defense finished 69th, its worst performance since 2018. It would make perfect sense if Nardo needed a year of trial and error… (ESPN+ $$$)

Two quotes

• Nolan Schubart as one of the top ten picks seems like a reasonable choice to me:

• Two notes: Great to have Gundy ahead of Whittingham and it would be great if Gundy could close the four-game deficit to Dabo Swinney:

A question

• The Big 12 has more one-score games than any other conference – Do you like the fact that Oklahoma State seems to be involved with a lot of those clubs?

Non-OSU bullets

• Interesting to read how Russell Westbrook is still changing games. These mugs from Braum look great:
