NDSU Oakes Irrigation Field Day scheduled for August 1 – Jamestown Sun

North Dakota State University’s Oakes Irrigation Research Site, a branch of the Carrington Research Extension Center (CREC), will host its annual Field Day on Thursday, August 1. The Field Day will include a tour of the site and a sampling of the research being conducted this season.

“The site has undergone many changes over the past year and we look forward to showcasing the progress,” said Mike Ostlie, CREC Director.

The tour starts at 9:00. Topics include:

  • Potato Breeding Updates – Asunta Thompson, Potato Breeder
  • Robotic Weed Control Solutions and Monitoring – Evans Wiafe, PhD Student
  • Soybean Disease Under High Humidity Conditions – Wade Webster, Soybean Pathology Specialist
  • Managing White Mold in Soybeans – Michael Wunsch, CREC Research Plant Pathologist
  • Dry Bean Variety Update – Juan Osorno, Dry Bean Grower
  • Organic matter is important – Carlos Pires, soil fertility specialist

After the presentations you will receive a complimentary lunch and a sneak peek of the new headquarters that is under construction.

The Oakes Irrigation Research Site is located 4.5 miles south of Oakes on U.S. Highway 1 S.
