Six days left to vote early for the August 1 elections

A total of 312 people cast their votes during the first seven days of early voting for the August 1 election.

On Friday, July 19, the Election Commission reported that 42 people cast ballots at the Smithville courthouse, including one by mail, and that of those, 35 people cast ballots in Tennessee’s Republican primary and seven in the state’s Democratic primary.

You can vote early until July 27.

Early voters may cast their ballots at the Smithville Courthouse during a six-hour period on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Tuesday from noon to 6 p.m. Early voting on Saturday is from 9 a.m. to noon. No early voting on Sunday.

Early voting in Alexandria will take place again on Tuesday, July 23 from noon to 6 p.m. at the Kenneth Sandlin Center at the DeKalb County Fairgrounds.

In the meantime, the Election Commission has released sample ballots for the elections scheduled for Thursday, August 1. These include the general election in DeKalb County, the municipal elections in Smithville, Dowelltown and Alexandria, and the Republican and Democratic primaries in Tennessee.

The deadline for updating an address on voter registrations is Friday, July 26.
