Man killed in DC shooting

WASHINGTON, DC – Authorities are investigating the deadly shooting that left a man dead in northwest Washington, DC, on Thursday.

Officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 2000 block of Bryant Street in Northeast, DC at approximately 3:30 p.m. Upon arrival, they found Hassan Kamara Jr., 26, of Takoma Park, Maryland, who had been shot. Kamara was taken to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

The investigation is still ongoing.

  • Arrest Made in Series of Lululemon Thefts in DC

    Washington, DC – Authorities have arrested a suspect in connection with multiple thefts from Lululemon stores in Northwest, DC

    Early Friday morning, officers with the Third District Nightlife Department conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that matched the description of a vehicle involved in multiple shoplifting incidents. During the stop, officers identified the driver as 23-year-old Avante Demarco Greene of Northwest, who matched the description of a suspect in the robberies.

    Greene has been charged with the following crimes:

    • Robbery one on Wednesday, July 10 in the 1000 block of F Street, Northwest
    • Robbery one on Friday, July 12 in the 3200 block of M Street, Northwest
    • Robbery one on Tuesday, July 16 in the 1000 block of F Street, Northwest

    The case remains under investigation. Anyone with information regarding these incidents is urged to contact police at (202) 727-9099 or send tips to 50411. A reward of up to $1,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest and indictment.

  • Chinatown shooting sparks search for two suspects

    Washington, DC – Police are asking the community for help identifying two suspects involved in a shooting in Chinatown.

    On Wednesday at approximately 8:37 p.m., officers responded to a report of a shooting in an alley near the 600 block of H Street, Northwest. An adult male victim was found with a gunshot wound and taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The investigation revealed that a dispute between the suspects and the victim preceded the shooting.

    Nearby surveillance cameras captured images of the suspects.
