Qualifying for this afternoon’s GT America powered by AWS race at Virginia International Raceway has been cancelled due to rain. The starting grid for Race 1 has been determined based on the second practice session of Friday’s dry session.

SRO America made the decision just before the start of qualifying, which was converted into an additional 15-minute practice session for series competitors.

Jason Daskalos set the fastest time of the session, a 2:02.379 in his No. 27 CRP Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo.

The 5.28km circuit was drenched in rain all night and into the early morning, requiring sweepers to clear the standing water before work could begin on Saturday.

Justin Rothberg, who set the fastest time in the second practice session, will therefore start from pole position, alongside Daskalos, leader in the SRO3 standings.

ACI Motorsports’ Curt Swearingin is expected to lead the GT4 class cars into the starting grid at 1:00 p.m. EDT.

The 40-minute race will be streamed live on SRO’s GT World YouTube channel and on Twitch.
