Crews battle forest fire near Alberton

ALBERTON — Crews from several agencies responded to a wildfire that broke out in Mineral County Friday evening.

According to the Lolo National Forest, the fire is burning along Interstate 90, a mile east of Alberton, near Bible Lane. Some structures in the area are threatened.

On Friday evening, the fire was estimated to have an area of ​​10 hectares.

The Missoula County Sheriff’s Office has issued an evacuation warning for residents east of the intersection of Petty Creek Road and Bible Lane, including Runyon Drive, Lydia Lane and Lucinda Lane.

The Alberton Community Centre opened Friday evening for people evacuated from the fire area.

Crews fighting the fire from the air and on the ground managed to slow the spread of the forest fire on Friday evening.
