Man arrested for making death threats against Trump and Vance ahead of their first rally together

A Florida man was arrested Friday for making “written death threats” against former President Donald Trump and Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH) ahead of their first meeting as a potential and likely presidential team.

According to Jupiter police, 68-year-old Michael M. Wiseman allegedly wrote threats on his Facebook account, including bodily harm.

“JPD coordinated with the United States Secret Service and the Palm Beach County State Attorney’s Office on the investigation,” police said. “JPD officers took Wiseman into custody without incident. After reviewing the reports and the suspect’s Facebook account, JPD detectives discovered that Wiseman had made multiple threats against Trump and Vance, who earlier this week became the Republican nominees for president and vice president, respectively. Threats of bodily harm were also made against members of the Trump and Vance families.”

The threat comes just a week after Trump was reportedly assassinated at his rally in Pennsylvania.

Remarkably, Trump was only hit by a bullet after the tragic incident.

Trump and Vance will campaign as a duo for the first time in Michigan on Saturday.

Michigan is one of the crucial swing states expected to determine the outcome of the election.

In 2016, Trump won the state by just over 10,000 votes. In 2020, however, President Joe Biden won the state by 154,000 votes.

Trump’s choice of Vance was seen as a move to win support among so-called Rust Belt voters in places like Michigan, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and Ohio, who helped Trump achieve his surprise victory in 2016. Vance specifically mentioned those posts during his convention acceptance speech, where he emphasized that he grew up in poverty in a small Ohio town and promised not to forget the working class, whose “jobs were sent overseas and their children were sent to war.” Democrats have dominated power recent elections in Michigan, but Republicans now see an opening in the state as Democrats become increasingly divided over whether Biden should drop out of the race. Biden has insisted he is not giving up and has tried to refocus on Trumpwho said Friday that Trump’s speech at the Republican convention showed a “dark vision of the future.” Through Associated Press.

Polls show the state leaning more toward Trump and rumors suggest Biden is dropping out of the race.

According to a Fox News poll from earlier this year, Trump leads Biden by just two percentage points in Michigan, with Biden taking 45 percent of the vote and Trump taking 47 percent.

The former president’s two percentage point lead falls within the poll’s margin of error of plus or minus three percent.
