Huskies Make Late Offer for Offensive Tackle to Oregon 6A State Champs

It ain’t over till it’s over, as the eloquent baseball player Yogi Berra used to say. That goes for football games, weight training sessions, and, oh yeah, college recruitment campaigns, too.

A prime example is University of Washington football staff Jedd Fisch’s last-minute offer to offensive tackle Zac Stascausky of Portland, Oregon, on Friday, as incoming commitments for the class of 2025 are nearly completed.

It should be noted that the 6-foot-1, 300-pound Stascausky, who came out of 6A state champion Central Catholic High School, has been assigned to Minnesota, another Big Ten player, since June 9.

The UW is apparently trying to do to the Gophers what Bill Murray did to that annoying, hairy little animal in the memorable film Caddyshack. In other words, screw things up.

Stascausky has received numerous college offers, including Arizona State, Boise State, BYU, California, Oregon State, UCLA and WSU. He played a key role in Central Catholic’s dominant run through the Oregon playoffs, with the Rams defeating Tualtin 49-21 in the state championship game to finish 13-0.

With Stascausky at left tackle, Central amassed a playoff-record 639 total offensive yards in the final.

The Rams have had just one close game this season, defeating West Linn and UW tight end commit Baron Naone 12-7 in the state semifinals.

Central Catholic opened last football season with a convincing 48-27 win over visiting Bellevue High from the Seattle area and continued its run of form with a 28-6 second-week rout of Jesuit and Husky defenseman Elias Johnson and later a 42-6 win over Lakeridge and UW 2026 running back Ansu Sanoe in the playoffs.

Whether Stascausky will withdraw his offer to Minnesota and join the others in Montlake is uncertain. Still, the big offensive lineman posted his Husky scholarship proposal on social media for all to see.
