Yankees blown away in ugly home loss to Rays

It was an ugly Saturday afternoon for the New York Yankees (59-41) from start to finish, as they were defeated 9-1 by the Tampa Bay Rays (49-49) at Yankee Stadium.

Nestor Cortes had his worst start to the season, allowing six runs and eight hits in 4.1 innings, while also throwing two hits to the last batter.

New York’s offense managed just four hits. Ben Rice led off the game with a double, and the Yankees didn’t get another hit until the ninth, when Juan Soto tripled and Carlos Narvaez and Gleyber Torres singled. Jahmai Jones drove in the lone run with a groundout.
