Govs wants to move final game of football season to state rival Mocs

CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Austin Peay State University football plans to move its final game of the 2024-25 regular season against in-state rivals, the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga Mocs, to a Thursday night.

The game is currently scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 23. But sources told Clarksville Now that Austin Peay is looking to move the rivalry to Thursday, Nov. 21. A similar situation occurred in 2021 when the two programs mutually decided to move a Saturday game to Thursday night.

An official with knowledge of the negotiations said Austin Peay wants to move the game because it would be better for the Clarksville community while providing a different atmosphere for fans during the upcoming season. Austin Peay Athletics is awaiting the UT-Chattanooga Athletic Department’s response to its proposal.
