New art gallery and studio opens in Mount Rainier

A new studio in Mount Rainier showcases local artists and offers art classes.

Located at 3510 Rhode Island Ave. in a renovated historic building, Station 3510 offers workshops and classes for the community in various art forms.

At a recent event, held in partnership with New Brooklyn Farms and Diaspora Honey, children ages 5 to 14 watched real bees in a glass observation hive, tasted honey, and then created bee-inspired paintings. Another event planned for Sunday is paper weaving.

Station 3510 also hosts regular exhibitions where you can purchase work from local artists, including ‘How to Day Dream’, which kicks off tonight with an event from 6pm to 9pm.

Co-owners Jarrett Hendrix and Michael Ant, both photographers, told Hyattsville Wire that they had the idea for a combination studio/gallery/marketplace earlier this year, and the idea quickly came together.

Station 3510 is located in a 1947 building that was renovated by Daniel Simon, who also renovated the Palmer Building in Hyattsville.
