Search for missing diver in Cache County begins

LOGAN, Utah (KUTV) — A search is underway for a man who dived off the cliffs of the Porcupine Dam and never resurfaced.

Cache County deputies said they were dispatched to the dam at approximately 2:20 p.m. Saturday afternoon for reports of a possible drowning.

It was reported that a young man dove into the water from a cliff and never surfaced.

Search and rescue teams and diving units have been deployed and are currently searching the area.

The Utah Department of Public Safety State Dive Team and DPS helicopter are assisting in the search for the man.

The Cache County Sheriff’s Office is asking the public to avoid the area so emergency responders can carry out their duties unhindered.

“We understand the concern and fear this incident may cause in the community,” the sheriff’s office said. “As more information becomes available, we will provide updates to keep the public informed.”
