JD Vance wastes no time challenging Kamala Harris at Trump rally

Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH) didn’t hesitate when he took the stage at Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids, Michigan, on Saturday and immediately took a swipe at Vice President Kamala Harris.

Trump’s campaign rally is the first joint event with his recent vice presidential nominee and the first campaign rally since the attempted assassination at his rally in Pennsylvania over the weekend.

“It was so cool that President Trump asked us to be his running mate and campaign, but there’s actually some bad news,” Vance said as he greeted supporters.

“Vice President Kamala Harris, she doesn’t like me,” the crowd booed.

Kamala Harris slams JD Vance for not telling the ‘whole story’ in his RNC speech

“Kamala Harris said something along the lines of I have no loyalty to this country,” the 39-year-old continued.

“Well, I don’t know, Kamala. I served in the United States Marine Corps and built a business. What did you do, besides cash a check?”

“What did she do other than cash a check from her political offices?” Vance asked the crowd.

“We have to give her credit, my friends,” he continued, “she served as the ‘border czar’ during the greatest open-border disaster we’ve ever had in this country.”

Vance then said that Trump would “close the border and bring some sanity and security to this country.”

The packed hall of almost 14,000 people, according to the New York Post, cheered along during Vance’s speech,

Vance also echoed Michael Steele’s classic 2008 line “drill, baby, drill” when talking about how Trump would secure “energy dominance.”

Vance also pledged to “take the drug cartels out of our country.”

The speech comes days after Harris took her first opportunity to criticize Vance herself after formally accepting the Republican Party’s vice presidential nomination.

On Friday in Fayetteville, North Carolina, Harris told supporters that Vance was only telling his fans part of his story.

“Some of you may have heard Donald Trump’s running mate give a speech at the Republican National Convention,” Harris said, adding that while “riveting,” it was “not the whole story.”

“Frankly, what he didn’t say on that stage is telling,” she continued, as she began outlining the various right-wing movements the Ohio senator has ties to, including Project 2025.

“The point is, if you claim to stand for unity, you have to do more than just use the word,” Harris said to loud applause.

“You cannot claim to stand for unity when you are pursuing an agenda that strips entire groups of Americans of their fundamental freedoms, opportunities and dignity.”

Vance will hold his first rally as Trump’s vice presidential nominee on July 22 in his hometown of Middletown, Ohio, Trump confirmed in a statement.
