North Carolina School Boards Association launches statewide campaign to support public education

RALEIGH, NC (WGHP) — The North Carolina School Boards Association recently launched a national advertising campaign to build support for public schools, the organization announced in a press release.

The campaign, titled “Public Education Serves the Public Good,” uses social media and billboard ads to spread NCSBA’s message that “healthy, well-funded public schools are good for everyone, not just those who attend them, because a well-educated population enjoys economic success, freedom, democracy, and healthy government.”

“Thriving public schools uplift society as a whole, no matter what type of education fits your family’s needs,” said Jennifer Thompson, chair of the NCSBA board of directors. “Public education was a cornerstone of America’s foundation for so many reasons. Everyone benefits from a strong public school system. We should all support our public schools.”

According to the NCSBA, the campaign focuses on the state’s low teacher wages, but does not target specific legislation or policy choices.

“It is meant to remind everyone that healthy public schools make North Carolina stronger, more competitive and more prosperous for all of us,” the press release said.

More information about the campaign can be found on the NCSBA website.
