Boo Birds Visit Texas Rangers, Adolis García on Another Baltimore Butt-Kicking

ARLINGTON — The Texas Rangers heard their first excessive boos in more than a season at Globe Life Field on Saturday night.

It wasn’t just that the Baltimore Orioles were beating up the Rangers again. The first-place Orioles hit three more home runs in an 8-4 drubbing of the Rangers.

The boos first came on Ramón Urías’ bloop single to shallow right field for Adolis García. To much of the nearly 40,000 fans in attendance, the pop-up looked like it might be a run for Garcia.

In reality, it was a long run for Garcia, who didn’t rush the ball hard. He probably did this as a precaution to make sure the ball didn’t go past him while Cedric Mullins was going to third base.

The boos died down pretty quickly, but flared up again when Daniel Robert threw three straight balls after taking a 0-2 lead against Gunnar Henderson. Robert struck Henderson out by hitting the next pitch.

García has struggled at bat for much of the season, especially after a solid April.

Since May 1, he is hitting .170 with nine homers and 21 RBI in 64 games. He has 76 strikeouts and 21 walks in the span.

He was moved from the cleanup position to fifth in the order, but it didn’t make a difference. In fact, Garcia fell even further in July, hitting .130 in 13 games in July.

Garcia has a .207 batting average this season with 17 home runs and 46 RBI.
