ND State Parade celebrates newspapers | News, Sports, Jobs

Eloise Ogden/MDN The VFW Color Guard prepares on Broadway to participate in the North Dakota State Parade.

The North Dakota State Parade in Minot drew a large crowd on Saturday as nearly 190 vehicles made their way along the parade route from Broadway, east along the Burdick Expressway and through the North Dakota State Fairgrounds.

The weather cooperated on the day of the parade: it was pleasantly warm for both the parade participants and the spectators.

The theme of this year’s parade, “ADDITIONAL! “ADDITIONAL!“North Dakota Hot News” celebrated newspapers and their importance to communities with two editors of The Minot Daily News – Eloise Ogden, editor, and Jill Schramm, associate editor – as co-grand marshals. Some units in the parade were themed.

The North Dakota State Fair kicks off in Minot on Friday, this year on Friday, July 19, and the ND State Parade will be held the following day, Saturday.
