Driver flees after high-speed collision in front of Shaker Heights police station

SHAKER HEIGHTS, Ohio (WOIO) – A driver fled the scene early Saturday morning after crashing into a utility pole in front of the Shaker Heights Police Department.

According to a Facebook post from the city of Shaker Heights government, the crash immediately caused a power outage in the area.

The driver of the vehicle then fled on foot and police were unable to immediately locate the suspect, the report said.

Police towed the suspect’s vehicle and found a gun inside.

According to the press release, Shaker Heights police have identified the suspect and are seeking a warrant for his arrest.

Lee Road between Van Aken Boulevard and Fernway Road was closed for most of the day Saturday, but has since reopened.

19 News has reached out to Shaker Heights police for more information about the suspect, but has not yet heard back.
