Northeast Spotlight: Five Predictions About Commitment

Blake Woodby

Recruiting doesn’t take a break in the summer. In fact, it only gets hotter.

After a wave of official visits in June, July and August are popular times for some of the country’s finest to secure their college choices, with more expected as the summer progresses.

Here are the latest predictions from Rivals.com national recruiting analyst Ryan O’Bleness.

MORE COMMITMENT PREDICTIONS: Mid-South | South East | Midwest | Florida

Daniels tells Rivals he plans to announce his commitment on August 2. He’s had plenty of suitors with nearly 30 scholarship offers during his recruitment, but barring any surprises, the three schools considered for the four-star safety are Clemson, south carolina And Virginia Technology.

That said, South Carolina has placed a heavy emphasis on recruiting the DMV area under head coach Shane Beamer and has been seen as a leader for Daniels for some time. Daniels took an official visit to the Gamecocks the weekend of June 21 and has built a strong relationship with the South Carolina defensive backs coach Torrian Grey.

Daniels is the No. 8 player in the state of Virginia and the No. 31 safety in the 2025 cycle.

Prediction: south carolina

Gilchrist, who has offered nearly 30 scholarships in total, recently ranked the top three Georgia, Maryland And south carolinaHe made official visits to each of those schools, but the latest information we’ve heard suggests this will ultimately be a battle between South Carolina and Maryland.

The Gamecocks have long been considered the frontrunner for the four-star offensive tackle, but rumor has it that the Terrapins are gaining popularity with Gilchrist, and that playing a little closer to home could be attractive to him.

Malik Washingtona Four-star quarterback commit to Marylandhas also not hesitated to publicly recruit Gilchrist to College Park.

South Carolina should still be in a strong position now, but with a commitment date of August 3 for Gilchrist, that could be down to the wire. Again, the Gamecocks’ focus on the DMV could pay off here, but the Terrapins aren’t going to make it easy.

Prediction: south carolina (but watch Maryland as the engagement date approaches)

Where Goodman ends up is perhaps the biggest mystery on the list. He made official visits to Chestnut brown, Penn State, Georgia, Alabama And USC this summer. All of those schools remain in the mix, but the latest information we’re hearing suggests that the Tigers, Nittany Lions, and Trojans are the three teams we should be watching the most closely.

Goodman knows exactly what he’s looking for in a program.

“Education, development and stability,” Goodman recently told Rivals.com when asked what the most important factors are in his recruitment.

There’s no decision date yet for Goodman, and it’s hard to name a leader, but as it stands, Penn State has home-field advantage and checks all of its other boxes. Still, things are fluid with Goodman.

Prediction: Penn State

Like Goodman, McFadden’s recruitment is a tough one to nail down as things stand. McFadden has previously said he wants to continue his recruitment into the fall, so no immediate decision seems likely.

McFadden paid an official visit to State of Ohio on the weekend of June 7 and All indications are that the trip went very well and the Buckeyes are still high on his list. However, if McFadden wants to wait until the fall to commit, it’s unclear how long OSU is willing to wait before pursuing other interior offensive linemen. For now, the Buckeyes still appear to be in a strong position for the four-star prospect.

An outsider is however Colorado. The Buffaloes will likely get an official fall visit from McFadden so he can get a taste of the game day atmosphere in Boulder. Plus, he’s good friends with Jordan Seatonwho signed with Colorado as a five-star offensive tackle for the 2024 class.

Other schools that have been raised with McFadden include south carolina, Florida And Marylandamong others. Those other programs still have plenty of time to make a move, but Ohio State and Colorado likely remain the top contenders at this point.

Prediction: State of Ohio

Woodby had previously committed to State of Ohio from October 2023 until last May, when he withdrew his commitment to the Buckeyes. Since then, a few new schools have joined.

The four-star cornerback a top three released by Chestnut brown, Maryland And Oregon on June 30. He paid an official visit to the Tigers the weekend of May 31 and to the Terrapins the weekend of June 21.

Since his decommitment from Ohio State, Auburn has been viewed as a serious prospect for Woodby. He is expected to return to Auburn to continue his Big Cat Weekend event on July 27thThe exact date Woodby will commit is still unclear, but if all goes well at the Big Cat event, we wouldn’t be surprised to see his recruitment finalized by the end of this month.

Prediction: Chestnut brown
