I hope that after the elections there will be more understanding in Washington and Europe for Azerbaijan

“We are openly, sometimes publicly and sometimes privately, conveying the message that Azerbaijani interests in the South Caucasus must be respected. If someone wants to ignore our interests, it is a mistake, a miscalculation and another disappointment,” Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said while addressing the 2nd Shusha Global Media Forum themed “Unmasking False Narratives: Confronting Disinformation.”

“So I hope that changes will happen, regardless of the outcome of the presidential election. To be honest, we also think that some of the anti-Azerbaijani actions were motivated by the campaign. They need Armenian votes. They need Armenian votes. And that’s maybe why they do these things. I don’t know. That’s my humble assessment. I just want to be absolutely honest in my judgments, but nevertheless, I hope that regardless of the outcome, there will be more understanding in Washington and Europe for Azerbaijan, its potential and its role,” the head of state added.
