Conor McGregor played a hidden role in Jake Paul’s fight with Mike Perry

Jake Paul defeated Mike Perry by sixth-round knockout in Florida ahead of his fight with Mike Tyson, but MMA star Conor McGregor played a huge role in the match that fans may not have noticed

Conor McGregor cheered the music of Mike Perry’s walkout, then lamented his defeat to Jake Paul.

The Americans faced off in Florida on Saturday night, with Paul dropping his opponent three times en route to a sixth-round knockout.

It was the pre-match antics that got MMA star McGregor talking, though. Perry, 32, walked out to “Thuggish Ruggish Bone” by Ohio-based rap group Bone Thugs-N-Harmony.

Ironically, they had already signed to McGregor’s record label Greenback Records earlier in the day. He announced the deal on Twitter, saying: “The Notorious Thug era has begun. I welcome the greatest rap group of all time to @greenbackrecs. Bone Thugs-N-Harmony”

McGregor, whose own laugh is heard on the track, was thrilled to see Perry use it, writing on social media ahead of the fight: “What a song! BONE THUGS N HARMONY FOR GREENBACK RECORDS NOW LIVE FOR OUR BAREKNUCKLER’S MAINT EVENT WALKOUT!” He added: “WHAT A BEAT! GREENBACK RECORDS BABY!”

McGregor’s joy didn’t last long after seeing Perry defeated, however, and he threatened to fire the American from his bare-knuckle boxing promotion BKFC in response.

“Hey Mike, you’re released and can compete in your stinking, filthy boxing championship, the smell of it, good luck,” McGregor wrote. “You’re fired.”

Perry responded by claiming that he can’t just be fired. He replied, “He doesn’t have permission because we both own BKFC, so he can’t fire me. We can fight bare-knuckle. Look at me, I lost to Jake Paul, why doesn’t he fight Jake Paul with gloves on in boxing? I think it’ll be worse than his fight with Floyd Mayweather.”
