4) Jersey Arts TV: Million Dollar Quartet Shakes Up the Bell Theater – Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins. Put them all together and what do you get?

You get the Million Dollar Quartet, an impromptu jam session recorded on December 4, 1956, now considered a pivotal moment in rock ‘n’ roll history. It makes sense that Colin Escott and Floyd Mutrux would think of turning it into a jukebox musical. The pair are responsible for writing the book, while the music and lyrics come directly from that historic jam session.

6) NJ Rep holds auditions for 2025 season – (LONG BRANCH, NJ) — New Jersey Repertory Company will hold auditions for their 2025 season on Monday, August 5th and Tuesday, August 6th for the 2025 season, by appointment only. No walk-ins please. Auditions will be held at New Jersey Repertory Company’s West End Arts Center (132 West End Avenue) in Long Branch, NJ. Free parking and entrance to the building is in the Sairs Avenue parking lot.

7) Seeing Alanis Morissette in Concert – A Night to Remember – I have wanted to see Alanis Morissette in concert for YEARS. I have been a fan of her music since the beginning, and every time she has been in New Jersey I have been conflicted. Except once, when I actually had tickets, but there was a huge thunderstorm and the event was canceled.

8) Heart of the City Festival Returns to Rahway, Showcasing Local Black and Brown Talent – (RAHWAY, NJ) — The 2024 Heart of the City Festival will once again captivate the Rahway community on Saturday, August 3, 2024 from 12:00 PM – 6:00 PM. Coordinated by Rahway local Parisse Dawkins, the Heart of the City Festival aims to highlight the immense talent of the local Black and Brown community in the New Jersey area, with a special emphasis on Rahway-based creatives.

9) NJPAC Announces Lineup for 2024 Sounds of the City FREE Concerts – (NEWARK, NJ) — Experience a stellar lineup of diverse artists under the stars this summer at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) for exciting, FREE concerts every Thursday from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM during the Horizon Sounds of the City series. The series unites Newark’s cultural diversity by bringing together residents, workers and visitors for unforgettable evenings of great music, food and fun. This year’s lineup includes Brazilian percussionist Cyro Baptista, Afrobeat singer and recording artist Kofi Kinaata, New Orleans funk band Galactic f. 11) Haddon Township presents Summer of Love – 60s, 70s, & 80s Music Festival on August 24 – (HADDON TOWNSHIP, NJ) — Eddie Berner, of the iconic band A Flock of Seagulls, will perform along with a lineup of amazing musicians from New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania, at Haddon Township’s Summer of Love—60s, 70s, & 80s Music Festival. Held on Saturday, August 24, 2024 from 2:00-10:00 PM at Haddon Square (along Haddon Avenue between Strawbridge and Cooper Streets), Summer of Love is a groovy festival featuring music from the 60s, 70s, and 80s.

12) PEAK Performances at Montclair State University Announces 2024-25 Season – (MONTCLAIR, NJ) — PEAK Performances at Montclair State University, which develops, produces and presents world-class professional live performances that connect communities in Montclair and surrounding areas, has announced its 2024-2025 season, bringing a variety of genres and forms to the Alexander Kasser Theater.

13) PHOTOS from “Footloose” at Surflight Theater – (BEACH HAVEN, NJ) — Surflight Theatre presents the musical Footloose July 9-28, 2024. Based on the classic 1980s film, the play follows big-city teen Ren as he moves from Chicago to the small, rural town of Bomont, where the residents have unfairly banned rock ‘n’ roll and dancing. 14) Bergen County Announces Return of Summer Movies and Concerts in the Park – Jim Tedesco, the County Board of Commissioners, and the County Parks Department announce the return of the Bergen County Films and Music in the Park Summer SeriesThe series will feature 24 events at four locations in Bergen County, beginning July 10, 2024. All concerts and films are free and open to the public. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and/or blankets for viewing.

15) The world’s tallest moving statue is created during American Dream – (EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ) — The Giant Company Attractions Limited (Dublin, Ireland) and American Dream have announced a partnership to develop the world’s first Giant-themed visitor attraction called “The Giant” at American Dream, with an anticipated opening in January 2025.
