(WHTM) — Pennsylvania Democrats and Republicans have released numerous statements in response to President Joe Biden’s decision to drop out of the 2024 Presidential Race.

Pennsylvania Rep. Dwight Evans (D-Philadelphia) said “I am deeply grateful for President Joe Biden’s service to our country. Having led landmark legislation like the Violence Against Women Act as a senator and served as vice president for eight years, he stepped up again in 2020.to end the disastrous tenure of Donald Trump and clean up the mess and chaos that Trump left behind. President Biden and Vice President @VP Harris have delivered for Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and the nation with accomplishments I’ve been proud to vote for in Congress from the American Rescue Plan that helped us recover from Covid and the Trump recession, to the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, and the historic clean-energy and health-care law also known as the Inflation Reduction Act.”

Republican US Senate candidate Dave McCormick said: “Joe Biden is not capable of serving as Commander-in-Chief. Bob Casey is very close to Biden — he’s known this — but in typical Casey fashion, he’s been weak in his refusal to admit to Pennsylvanians that Biden is simply not up to the job. Keeping his head down when times get tough, that’s who Bob Casey is. As a veteran and an American, I believe our troops deserve a Commander-in-Chief who is fully capable of doing the job — and Casey’s refusal to stand up for them throughout President Biden’s obvious decline is despicable. No matter who becomes the Democrats’ presidential nominee, career politician and habitual liar Bob Casey can’t run from the disastrous liberal agenda he’s rubber stamped for the past three and a half years and throughout his 30 years of collecting a taxpayer-funded paycheck. Casey has voted for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris’ failing liberal agenda and tired, old ideas 98% of the time, fueling a border crisis that killed over 4,000 Pennsylvanians from fentanyl last year, violent crime terrorizing our communities, record high rent, gas and groceries, and regulations that are crushing the commonwealth’s energy sector. The people of Pennsylvania deserve a strong leader who will go to the mat to get things done for them, and I’m proud of our growing movement. On November 5, Pennsylvania will retire empty suit Bob Casey.”

US House Rep. Brendan Boyle (D-PA 2nd District) said: “President Joe Biden is a patriot. He selflessly put personal ambition aside to do what he thinks is best for our country. Today, and every day, both in dark passages and bright days, I am always proud to be one of Joe Biden’s biggest supporters.”

Majority Leader of the United States Senate Chuck Schumer (D-NY) said: “Joe Biden has not only been a great president and a great legislative leader but he’s a truly amazing human being. His decision of course was not easy, but he once again put his country, his party, and our future first. Joe, today shows you are a true patriot and great American.”

United States Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg, a Democrat, said on X: “Joe Biden has earned his place among the best and most consequential presidents in American history. I am so proud to serve under his leadership, and thankful for his unwavering focus on what is best for our country.”

PA Rep. Malcolm Kenyatta (D-Philadelphia) said: “I love @JoeBiden. I’ve been fortunate to know the man, not just the politician. In a profession often marked by ego, excess, and expediency, he has never let these erode his true gift—a pure decency and unflappable kindness. While many are celebrating today, keep in mind that many are also grieving. Joe Biden is unparalleled in terms of what he has accomplished as President for the American people in just 3 1/2 years. He defeated Donald Trump, unleashed an economic boom, and passed historic legislation that will benefit our country for decades to come. Joe Biden has also endured more heartbreak and setbacks than anyone should ever be asked to, but it has never stopped him. Today is no different. Even as he ends his campaign, I know there is much more he will do. I am grateful for him, today and every day. America is better because of him.”
