Donald Trump lashes out at ‘crooked’ Joe Biden as people think they know who can beat him in the presidential race

Donald Trump has lashed out at President Joe Biden after announcing tonight that he had withdrawn from the US presidential election. On his Truth Social account, former President Trump – who survived an assassination attempt last week – wrote that “the corrupt Joe Biden was not fit to run for president.”

He wrote: “Crooked Joe Biden was not fit to run for President, and is certainly not fit to serve – and never was! He only achieved the position of President through lies, fake news, and by not leaving his basement.

“Everyone around him, including his doctor and the media, knew he was unfit to be president, and he wasn’t. And now look at what he’s done to our country, with millions of people crossing our border, completely unchecked and uncontrolled, many from prisons, mental institutions, and record numbers of terrorists.

“We will suffer greatly because of his presidency, but we will repair the damage he has done very quickly. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”

The Mirror reported that Trump’s comments come after Biden today confirmed that he will no longer run for the 2024 US presidential election. Biden, 81, has been under increasing pressure to distance himself from his fellow Democrats after a disastrous televised debate with Trump. Biden’s health and age have been major concerns in recent weeks, and calls for him to withdraw from the election intensified after a public letter from major Democratic donor George Clooney.

Mr. Biden had previously maintained that he would not resign, as he was confident that he was the candidate who defeated Republican Donald Trump and that he would do so again this year. A statement from Mr. Biden released on his social media tonight said: “My fellow Americans, over the past three and a half years, we have made great progress as a nation. Today, America has the strongest economy in the world.

“We’ve made historic investments to rebuild our country, to lower prescription drug costs for seniors, and to expand affordable health care to record numbers of Americans. We’ve provided much-needed care to a million veterans exposed to toxic substances. We’ve passed the first gun safety law in 30 years.

“Appointed the first African-American woman to the Supreme Court. And passed the most significant climate legislation in the history of the world. America has never been better positioned to lead than it is today. I know none of this would have been possible without you, the American people.
