CONCORD, NH — State police arrested a woman early Sunday morning in Concord on charges of driving while intoxicated.

Around 3:30 a.m., state police began receiving calls about a car traveling south in the northbound lanes of Interstate 93. The first call was made in Northfield. Other callers provided updates as the vehicle traveled south, said Tyler Dumont, public information officer for the New Hampshire State Police.

An officer caught up to the car at Exit 17 in Concord, but they didn’t stop and kept going, the report said. As the car approached Exit 16, a police sergeant set up a device to deflate the tires in an attempt to stop the vehicle.

“As the vehicle’s tires deflated, the wrong-way driver continued southbound in the northbound lanes,” Dumont said. “The vehicle eventually stopped just north of the Interstate 393 interchange after encountering an officer from the Concord Police Department.”

An officer made contact with the occupants of the vehicle and, after an investigation, arrested Emily R. Lecuyer, 20, of Brentwood on charges of reckless conduct with a deadly weapon, driving under the influence and failure to obey an officer. She was released on personal bond and will appear in Concord District Court at a later date.

Anyone who may have seen the vehicle traveling the wrong way or who has information that could assist with the investigation is asked to contact Officer Bilotta at [email protected] or 603-223-4381.
