PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — WaterFire Providence announced today that Peter Mello, their Managing Director and Co-CEO, will be leaving at the end of August.

This announcement comes a week after Water Fire announced the program would be cutting back due to a lack of funding.

Mello joined WaterFire Providence in 2011 to lead the organization alongside founder and Artistic Director and Co-CEO Barnaby Evans.

“The past 13 years have been the most professionally rewarding of my entire career,” Mello said. “I also feel so fortunate to be part of an organization that is dedicated to creating art that has such a profound impact on Providence and Rhode Island.”

Mello will become director of the Art Complex Museum in Duxbury starting in September.
